Greatest Job in the World

What job could be better than being a PE teacher. Someone asks you what you do at work and you get to say,"I play games with kids all day!" I just can't think of any career better than that. Yeah it's not going to be all fun and games, but it will still be a great job. There will be a lot of work out of class time like creating lesson plans, developing ways to assess students, etc. Even though we will be playing with children all day, we have to remember that we are still educators, and our students need to be learning. This is important to justify that PE class is necessary and is beneficial for students. They can learn so many things that is only possible through this field. And hopefully they will remember what they've learned and use it the rest of their lives. Not only will we help students live healthier, fuller lives, but we will be accomplishing this while having fun!

  1. I agree Aaron, a lot of people feel like being a PE teacher is an easy job and some even think its not really a real job. I couldnt disagree more, we help educate kids on different aspects of health and fitness and help them see that PE isnt a class all about running and getting tired. We do play games but most are educational and teach them about new sports that they might not have played before. PE is a class all about educating and no matter what other people think it will always be an important subject for children when growing up.

  2. I totally agree with you. When I was in high school Phys. Ed. was my favorite subject. It seems though that Physical Education is being stereotyped. People think that being a Physical Education teacher, you just let the kids play games, but being this kind of teacher is much more. It is very time consuming to chose activities that students will enjoy. However, I don't care what people say I am so excited to become a Physical Education teacher.

  3. I want a job where when i get up in the morning im excited to go to everyday. Being a Physical Educator i believe would fit this category for me. with the obesity epidemic in the U.S today i think P.E. is as important a subject as it gets. Getting these kids moving and teaching them fitness is what needs to happen in the world today. The schools that cut p.e are only hurting the world and there students. Being a physical educator we can have fun and change the world at the same time.

  4. I feel the same. P.E. was always my favorite class in school. I'm from Ireland and went to schoo in Ireland. Physical education classes are not graded there and most of the time we were aloud do what we wanted. I hope to become a P.E. teacher in ireland and make changes as Irelands health rates are decreasing fast!

  5. I have the same thought as you when it comes to this profession. The class setting is meant to be fun and exciting. PE is an excellent class to talk about things such as obesity. Teaching the students about this at a young age could help them prevent becoming obese. The PE teachers need to really work on this because if not more and more schools will begin to cut PE programs.

  6. I completely agree with this being the best profession in the world. I suppose we could be a little bias but there really arent many disadvantages to becoming a phys ed teacher. I can speak from experience and having a job that I really didnt like! If I wasnt laid off, which looking back was a blessing in disguise, I would still be settling for me old job and not working toward this career that I know I will love. Obviously its not going to be the easiest job all the time but like anything else, something worthwhile takes some hard work and dedication.

  7. Becoming a Physical Education teacher at a point was my dream job. I could see it being a lot of fun. You get to teach and demonstrate sports every day and work with youth interested in learning more about sport and how to play sports.
